摘要：An embodiment of the present invention provides a method for sending an IPpacket. The method includes: acquiring, by a control plane of a router, an IP address anda MAC address of a first network element via PPPoE; sending, by the control plane of therouter, the IP address of the first network element to a routing forward table togenerate a first table entry; sending, by the control plane of the router, the IP addressand the MAC address of the first network element to an ARP buffer table to generate asecond table entry; advertising, by the router, a routing message to a neighbor router ofthe router; receiving a first IP packet forwarded by the neighbor router, and a source IPaddress of the first IP packet is the IP address of the second network element;forwarding, by the router, the first IP packet according to the first table entry and thesecond table entry. An embodiment of the present invention further provides acorresponding device. According to the method and the device of embodiments of thepresent invention, a local device communicates with a remote device via a router; there isno need for the router to discover the local device via a routing protocol and dynamicallyestablish and maintain, according to information provided by a routing message, thedestination IP address in the routing forward table, as a table entry of the local device,
thereby reducing the overhead of the router.
