Nowadays people are encouraged to buy more and more consumer products. Some people think it is good for the economy. However, others think it does great harm to the whole society. As nowadays college students, we should look at the problems from the view of reason. Therefore, let us talk about the effect of the situation that people are encouraged to buy more and more consumer products.
On the one hand, it plays an important role in nowadays society. Firstly, people buying more and more consumer products actually enrich people’s lives. The lives nowadays’ people live in are much better than those in 1950s, 1960s, etc. For example, women and men have more choices in clothing. Housewives have more different kinds of tools for cooking and cleaning the house. The need of different consumer products will speed up the development of economy. For instance, that will lift GDP by more percentage. That’s the second point. Last but not the least, people buy more and more consumer products will give them a sense of satisfaction and that will promote social harmony stability.
On the other hand, a lot of problems also hide in such a situation. For people, they have more and then they want more. It will form many people’s wasteful, luxurious, and compared concepts. For the market, there will appear more and more lawbreakers selling fake things. It will bring down all the market integrity degree. For the whole society, our nation becomes too focused on matter world; therefore, few people will pay attention to promote cultural and ideological progress.
From my point of view, what should we do isn’t complain or just stop on the
surface. The right way to deal with it is to face the problem in a reasonable way. The most effective behavior for people is rational consumption. Buy whatever you want moderately. Be yourself and don’t compare with others. As for the government, it should formulate more policy to regulate and control the market. All in all, none of the problems could save in one’s hand, so whatever we do we should cooperate with each other. Only in this way will our society become better.
